Liebert/Sage Young Investigator Award Applications Now Being Accepted

The Young Investigator Award is an annual $1,500 award to recognize 2 early-career investigators pursuing careers in respiratory therapy research.

Description

Established in 2025, the Young Investigator Award recognizes two researchers who have demonstrated a dedication to scholarship in the pursuit of research in the field of respiratory care.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be a current AARC member nominated by their mentor for achievement in research related to respiratory therapy practice.
  • Applicants must be an RRT with a minimum baccalaureate degree.
  • Applicants should have presented abstracts at national meetings and have at least 5 peer-reviewed publications/abstracts (first author or co-author).
  • Applicants are early-career investigators with <15 years of experience in the profession.
  • Applicants can only receive the award once.

Selection process

  • The recipient will be selected by the Editorial staff of Respiratory Care and Respiratory Care Reports, in consultation with the Executive Director of the AARC.
  • Two awards will be presented, one for Respiratory Care and one for Respiratory Care Reports.

Nomination process

  • The nomination package should include:
    • Nomination letter not to exceed 1,000 words
    • The applicant’s curriculum vitae
    • Copies of published work (max 5)
  • The nomination letter should include:
    • A description of the applicant’s work
    • A description of the applicant’s plan for continued research efforts
    • A description of personal attributes of the applicant and how they function with their research group
    • A description of any other awards or recognition

Timeline

  • The nomination period will close on August 15, 2026
  • The selection of the 2 recipients will be determined by August 25, 2026
  • The awards will be celebrated at the awards ceremony during the AARC Congress in New Orleans
